Consequences of an exclusive environment

Whilst a positive football environment can provide many benefits, an exclusive environment will create poor consequences such as:

  • Individuals decide they no longer wish to participate in football.
  • Individuals not meeting their full potential.
  • Poor mental health.
  • Individuals feel isolated or not feeling they belong as part of the team.
  • If the right environment is not provided, this will result in not providing people with the best opportunity to enjoy their football or to develop to their full potential.

Whilst this is not an exhaustive list, these are some example outcomes that can result from exclusive environments.

Creating positive environments and building inclusive cultures is key to creating a sense of belonging for everyone at your Club. Remember it’s not just down to the Equality Champion or coach to create a positive environment.

All Club members, teammates, and parents play a key role in supporting everyone at the Club.
