Pride Cymru 2022

As part of our mission to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ community and our continued partnership with The Rainbow Wall on Saturday 27th of August, FAW staff and Rainbow Wall members marched together with Wales shirts, Rainbow bucket hats and a ‘Pawb Proud Together’ banner through the Cardiff City Centre with 10,000+ members and allies of the LGBTQ+ community for Pride Cymru’s 23rd annual Pride March, which kicks off Pride Cymru every year.

The FAW took the opportunity at this year’s Pride Cymru event to join the market stall area for the first time. As part of our PAWB EDI Strategy, the FAW has committed to listening and engaging with underrepresented communities in football to hear their lived experiences in the game and to better understand the barriers and challenges they face.

Pride Cymru provided the opportunity for open and honest discussions about the challenges within football in Wales. FAW staff members spoke to hundreds of community members about how these can be addressed to create an environment where everyone can feel safe, welcomed, and have the opportunity to participate in the game.

The FAW would like to thank the Rainbow Wall for their continued support along with the LGBTQ+ community for welcoming staff to Pride Cymru providing the opportunity to create new relationships, particularly with those currently outside of the football family.
